Pumpkin Patch 2016

Got to spend a lovely fall afternoon with these wonderful young ladies for our Pumpkin Patch shoot.  Enjoy the arrival of the cooler weather and enjoy what's left of the Fall.

Clare's Portraits

I have had the pleasure of knowing Clare for a little while now as she swims on the same team that my sons swim on, the Henson Family Y....go Platypi!  This girl is an amazing swimmer, but more than that she is super sweet, a great student, and her family is delightful.  We had been planning her portraits for a while and were having trouble coming up with a unique place to capture them.  She suggested her neighborhood in Ocean City and it  seemed like the perfect fit.  Nothing cliche or too beachy, but pretty nonetheless.  As you can see from the sneak peeks there was a variety of places to shoot: from tree lined streets, a jetty and beach, the pond and the boardwalks, there was a little bit of everything.  We were even treated to an amazing sunset that matched every color in her dress that she wore towards the end of her session.

Clare, thanks for having me capture these.  It was so much fun getting to spend time with you and your mom as we roamed around your neighborhood.  Best of luck as you finish your senior year at Worcester and as you look forward to college.

Mackenzie's Portraits

As another Thanksgiving has come I am so thankful for the amazing senior portrait clients that I have had this year.  One of those seniors I am thankful for is Mackenzie.  We had scheduled her portraits for a few weeks ago, you know when hurricane Matthew came into town.  We captured some portraits in the studio and then rescheduled her outdoor session.  We had an amazing fall day with beautiful light.

She was such a joy to photograph and is a true beauty, especially her eyes...they draw you right in and I am sure from these portrait peeks that you will see why.  We captured a few of her at the track where she pole vaults for the Parkside Track and Field Team and a few on the soccer field before we headed downtown and then to Pemberton Park.

Thanks Mackenzie for trusting me to capture these.  I hope you have recovered from the turkey and gravy induced coma from yesterday and that you had a great Thanksgiving with your friends and family.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Sydney's Portraits

Meet Sydney!  She is one of my model reps. from Mardela High School in the Class of 2017.  We spent a lovely evening together in Cambridge, MD capturing her senior portraits.  I had the pleasure of capturing her brother's portraits a few years back and now it was her turn.  Sydney has these gorgeous brown eyes and is just the sweetest person there is.  We wandered around the town to a few of my favorite spots and finished up her portraits at the marina.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Sarah's Portraits

Meet Sarah!  She is one of my favorite people on the planet.  She is sweet, has a huge heart, is a genuine friend to the people in her life, and she comes from a rockin' family.  A few years back I had the pleasure of capturing her brother Chris' portraits.  Now, it was Sarah's turn.  We spent a lovely afternoon down at the Pocomoke forest, downtown Berlin, MD, and then at a local park capturing her very fall portraits.  We found some unusual spots in Berlin and ended her session under the lights near the Atlantic Hotel, finding some time to honor her friend Natalie.  Thanks for trusting me with these, Sarah.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Jamie's Portraits

Meet Jamie!  She is a senior in the Class of 2017 at PHS.  Her favorite place on earth is the beach.  She is planning on going to college next year, somewhere in the south and probably a school that starts with "Ole."  But that isn't official yet.  She is a beautiful and fun young lady and I was excited to get to spend a wonderful fall day with her in Ocean City capturing her senior portraits.  The iconic Ocean City Art Gallery made for the perfect backdrop and we even had a nice sunset to close out her session.  Thanks, Jamie, for having me create your portraits.  I wish you the best in your senior year.  Enjoy the sneak peeks.

Glamoween Session 2016

Haleigh and Olivia joined me and Kara Waggoner in the studio the other day for our "glamoween session."  Kara is an amazing makeup artist that I have had the privilege of meeting at several of our weddings this summer where she did the makeup for our brides.  I was impressed with her work and asked if we could collaborate on a unique session for two of my senior model reps. from the Class of 2017.

Well it finally came together the other day and I am proud to share with you what we captured.  Kara you are so good at what you do and it was my pleasure to photograph your work on these girls.  It turned out to be exactly what I had hoped and such a fun and different session for these senior girls.  Have a great Halloween and enjoy the Glamoween Session sneak peeks.

Jordan's Portraits

Meet Jordan!  I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet girl the other day here in  Salisbury for her senior portraits.  A few years ago I photographed her sister's session and they came back from Severn, MD to have Jordan's taken.  We got rained out a few times, but we were finally able to do her session recently.  She is a great volleyball player, natural beauty, and as I already said, such a sweet young lady.  We wandered around downtown Salisbury and even stopped off at a volleyball court near Salisbury University for some shots in her uniform.  Jordan, thanks for coming all the way down to Salisbury for me to capture these.  I enjoyed the afternoon with you and I hope you enjoy the sneak peeks.

Alex's Portraits

Meet Alex!  This amazing guy chose me to create his senior portraits for him this year.  I was so excited to hang out with Alex and capture his portraits.  He is involved in Young Life, plays on the LAX team at school, golfs and surfs, and is an all-around great guy.  We spent some time in downtown Berlin, MD then headed to Assateague for some sweet portraits of him on the beach with his Jeep.  This was a few days before hurricane Matthew blew up the coast, so it was a windy night.  We managed with the wind and were able to capture some great portraits.  Thanks, Alex, for trusting me with these.  It was fun spending time with you.  Enjoy the sneak peeks of your portraits.

Maddie in Color

You have already met Maddie!  I posted her senior portrait session in Black and White a week ago and I wanted to follow up with sneak peeks of her session in color as well.  This session was a blast and it was so much fun getting to spend time with this amazing senior.

Kassandra's Portraits

Meet Kassandra! We got to spend a warm summer day together for her senior portraits.  As you can see she has a ton of Haitian pride and a love of the beach.  We spent time in the studio, then on the grounds of Salisbury University near the arbor and pergola then headed out to one of my favorite spots, Tyaskin Park.  Kassandra...enjoy your senior year!  Thanks for having me capture your portraits.

Maddie in Black and White

We had Maddie's senior portrait session the other day.  As I was going through what we captured and converting a few into black and white, I was finding that I was loving the B&W.  So, I edited several of her portraits in B&W and wanted to share them today on the blog.  She will get another blog post with sneak peeks in color, but for now enjoy these.

Hailey's Senior Portraits

This senior is such a multi-faceted person.  First, this girl can sing, sing, sing.  I can't wait to hear her perform again in Rock and Roll Revival this winter.  Second, she is beautiful, not just outwardly, but she has got a deep inward beauty which makes all the difference.  Lastly, but certainly not an exhaustive list of who she is, she is sweet.  Remembering to include a too-soon departed high school friend in your senior portraits tells me that she thinks of others before herself.  That is a quality lacking in many these days and it was refreshing to see in her during her session.

In a simple way portraits tell a story about the one being photographed.  I love to tell stories about my seniors through what we capture during a session.  The sneak peeks I have included on the blog today hopefully tell a story of all the qualities I mentioned above.  I hope that you can see what I saw when we captured these, beauty.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Tori's Senior Portraits

Meet Tori!  Earlier in the summer she came to her friends senior portrait session.  I was excited to finally get to capture her portraits just last week.  We made a few stops at some cool spots on our way down to Assateague Island for her beachy portraits.  We even pulled over on the side of the road to capture a few in some beautiful yellow wild flowers.

As you can see this young lady is truly gorgeous, especially her big brown eyes.  Wow!  We had such a fun session and I am excited to share a few sneak peeks with you. Enjoy!

Emily's Senior Portraits

Meet Emily!  She is a senior in the Class of 2017 at Salisbury Christian School.  She is a sweet soul that loves Jesus, horses, and her boyfriend too....sounds like a Tom Petty song.  I'm dating myself with that reference, still a good song, just not known by this generation.

One thing I love to do is spend time with my senior clients.  This is a once in a lifetime experience that shouldn't be skimped on in regards to time.  I take pride in crafting an experience for my clients that includes things that are important to them and creating images that tell a story about who they are.  Emily is one amazing young lady.  She rides, plays soccer, is involved in Young Life and her church and is a great student from what I hear.

We photographed at some spots that hold special meaning for her.  The railroad station is in their hometown, the barn where she rides, and Assateague(where she spends every spare moment).  It was a great session and we were treated to one of the most amazing sunsets I have seen at Assateague as we wrapped up her session.  This is another reason I don't do mini sessions with my seniors, again it's too important and you miss out on beautiful settings like this.  Sorry for the novel, but I loved this session and I hope that you love the sneak peeks!  Enjoy!

Peyton's Senior Portraits

Meet Peyton!  She is a senior at Parkside High School this year.  I've had the pleasure of getting to know her this summer as she has come along to several of her friends senior sessions that I have done.  Well her session finally rolled around and it was a great day.  We spent some time in my studio, then in a woodsy spot in the middle of the Pocomoke forest and finished up at Public Landing in Snowhill, MD.  She is a gorgeous young lady with a great serious face AND a sweet smile.  She also has a kick butt Jeep!  Peyton, enjoy the sneak peeks and I can't wait to show you the rest of your images.

Mackenzie's Senior Portraits

Meet Mackenzie!  I had the pleasure of getting to spend time with this beautiful young lady the other day capturing her senior portraits.  Her brother had come to me a few years back to have his portraits captured and it is always an honor when a family returns to have their other children's portraits taken.  I knew this was going to be a great session.  Mackenzie is a dancer and they move so naturally that it is easy to pose and work with them.  I was also excited to capture some dance themed portraits on the beach and we were treated to another amazing sunset during the end of her session.  Mackenzie, thanks for having me capture your portraits.  I enjoyed spending time with you and getting to know you better.  I wish you the best in your senior year at Parkside.  I hope you have enjoyed your experience with me and my studio.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!!

Reed's Senior Portraits

Meet Reed!  If you don't already know this awesome young man, you are missing out on one of the wonderful parts of life.  Reed is a musician, an Eagle Scout, a skateboarder, a down-to-earth humble best friend for life kind of guy.  It has been my joy getting to know him and spending time with him on his Eagle project, in Young Life and now getting to capture his senior portraits.  As you can see we stopped at the skate park here in Salisbury for a few shots of him on his board, then downtown with his drum set, then off to Green Hill for the rest of his casuals.  Such a fun night and what a great time with this senior and his family.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Katelyn's Senior Portraits

Meet Katelyn!  She is one of my model reps from Snow Hill High School in the Class of 2017.  We met up the other day for her senior portrait session in downtown Berlin, MD then finished up at Assateague Island National Sea Shore.  Beautiful young lady, beautiful late summer day, and a beautiful evening at the beach all wrapped up in a gorgeous sunset to end the night.  We had a great session and she pulled off a lot of different looks.  From boho country, 70's hippie chic, stylish tie dyed dress on the marsh trail, and ended with a casual/edgy free people knitted top and torn jeans.  This session was epic and I love what we captured.  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Grant's Senior Portraits

senior-portraits-tyaskin-maryland-beach-photo-salisbury 7.jpg

Meet Grant!  I had the pleasure of getting to hang out with him for his senior portraits recently.  It was a beautiful evening out in Tyaskin and a great time getting to know him.  We spent some time around the PHS baseball field to capture some portraits of his passion(baseball).  There are only about 160 days until opening season, but who's counting.  I can't wait to see him pitch in his senior year on the mound.  Thanks for trusting me with your portraits and I am excited to share these few sneak peeks.  Cheers - James
